Latvia - Ventspils

Latvia’s port city, located on the west coast, Venspils is also known as Latvia’s cleanest city.  You can easily see the city in one day, but in summer it is best to spend at least two days in order to take in the surroundings.  Highly recommended is a side trip to Cape Kolka, where the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Riga meet.  In Ventspils, the landmark is the Livionian Order Castle, where most city events take place.  Don’t miss a visit to the modern library in the centre of town and if the weather is good the Open Air Ethnographic Museum is a must!  Ventspils is especially suited to families as there are numerous attractions for children.
